Warffemius, Piet

Dutch Artist Piet Warffemius (The Hague 1956) Painter, graphic artist, sculptor, ceramist. Education: Warffemius trained at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague from 1974 to 1979. Trees are central to Warffemius' work, although he sometimes carries abstraction so far that they are no longer recognisable. He also incorporates impressions from distant travels into his colourful compositions. Warffemius is a member of the Potsdamer Gruppe, to which Armando also belongs. In 2007, Warffemius was a guest lecturer at the art academy in Hamburg. Exhibitions and prizes: In 1997 Warffemius won the Jacob Hartog Prize and in 1980 the Godon Prize. His work is in possession of many Dutch company collections, as well as the State and a number of museum and important private collections.
