Silkscreen, Handsigned, numbered and dated. Piet WARFFEMIUS (The Hague 1956) Painter, graphic artist, sculptor, ceramist. Warffemius trained at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague from 1974 to 1979. Central to Warffemius' work are trees, although Warffemius sometimes takes abstraction so far that they are no longer recognisable. He also incorporates impressions from distant travels into his colourful compositions. Warffemius is part of the Potsdamer Gruppe, which also includes Armando. In 2007, Warffemius was a guest lecturer at the art academy in Hamburg. Warffemius won the Jacob Hartog Prize in 1997 and the Godon Prize in 1980. His work is owned by many Dutch corporate collections, as well as by the State and a number of museum and important private collections. Comes from the collection of the municipality of The Hague, The Netherlands.
