Spermon, kees

Cornelius (Kees) Spermon (Rotterdam, March 27, 1941 - Saint-Sauveur-de-Montagut, October 23, 1992) was a Dutch visual artist, active as a graphic artist, painter, illustrator, draughtsman, pen-and-ink artist and etcher, and teacher of graphic techniques at the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam. He produced both figurative and abstract work. Spermon was born and raised in Rotterdam and studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam. After graduating, he settled as a visual artist in Rotterdam, and later was a teacher back at the Rotterdam Academy of Art for many years. Spermon was a member of Teekengenootschap Pictura in Dordrecht, of the Vereeniging tot Bevordering der Grafische Kunsten 'De Grafische, and of the Federatie van Verenigingen van Beroeps Beeldende Kunstenaars in Amsterdam. permon received a Royal Award for Free Painting in 1969 and 1970. His work is included in the collections of the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the Haags Gemeentemuseum and the Museum Arnhem, among others.
