Vuil landschap

Cobi Nieuwstad (Gorinchem, 1949) received her training at St Joost Academy in Breda in the late 1970s and early 1980s, majoring in painting / monumental design. She paints in a lyrical, abstract-expressionist style. Characteristic of her work is the thematic approach. She finds her themes mainly in nature and landscape, as a metaphor for emotion and stance. Paintings of hers are included in collections of art libraries, companies and individuals. From 1987-2010, Cobi Nieuwstad combined being an artist with various positions in (corporate) journalism and communication advice. Since early 2011, she has worked exclusively as an artist. Until early 2023, Cobi Nieuwstad lived in her native region, the Rivierenland, and this is reflected in her work, but also in her poems. She has since moved to Voorschoten. In spring 2023, she will publish her collection Nachtland, a self-published publication. Comes from the collection of the municipality of The Hague, The Netherlands.
