Artist Willeke van Tijn (1946) trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague. Her talent is honoured with both the Europe Prize for Painting in Ostend and The Hague Victorine Hefting Prize. With a form of imaginative realism, Willeke brings her canvases to life with great expression and theatre. In both oils and pastels, the energy splashes off the works. Over the years, Willeke's art has been included in collections of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Frans Hals museum in Haarlem and the Museum voor de Moderne Kunst in Arnhem, among others. Her work has also been exhibited numerous times both at home and abroad, and she creates large commissioned projects, including paintings in a Belgian wedding hall and an immense canvas for a French music chapel. Lately, Van Tijn has focused mostly on cardboard three-dimensional works.
