1952 - Luís Soares was born on 22 August in Lourenço Marques (now Maputo), Mozambique. Descended from settlers, from an early age he experienced the white, black and Asian mix that was characteristic of Mozambique at the time. These cultural and aesthetic experiences deeply marked his artistic life. 1974 - Realises his first orders for murals for private homes. Holds his first major exhibition at Casa Amarilla with the support of the Lourenço Marques City Council. Exhibits at the Beira Cultural Centre with the support of the periodical "Noticias de la Beira and Dirección General de Turismo". He knows the artists, writers and friends José Pádua, António Bronze. Alberto Chissano (1935-1994), Mankew, Macamo, Alvaro Passos, Shikhani (1934-2010), Noel Langa, José Craveirinha (1922-2003), Rui Guerra, José Julio, Luís Patraquim, Chichorro, Samate, Fernando Fernandes, Bertina Lopes, Agostinho Mutemba, Jacob Estevão (1933-2008) Oblino, Lobo Fernandes, António Quadros, Ricardo Rangel (1924-2009),Malangatana (1936-2011), Garizo do Carmo, Virgílio de Lemos, Eugénio de Lemos (1930-1995), Pancho/Amâncio Guedes, Inácio Matsinhe, Paulo Come (1946-2000), Lara Guerra, Naftal Langa, Sansão Cossa, Paulo Come, Albino Magaia (1947-2010). Makes his first cast sculptures in bronze and aluminium. 1977 - In Lisbon, at GRAVURA - Sociedade Portuguesa de Gravadores Portugueses, he has his first contacts with the techniques of engraving, lithography and serigraphy and with a grant from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation for engraving in , GRAVURA, he had the technical guidance of the artist João Hogan. 1981 - Moves to Cascais and opens a workshop, beginning research work to create a type of ceramics that identifies with the area, generating its new roots. 1982 / 2019 - Participates in art fairs such as ARCO, Madrid; Art LA, Los Angeles; Art Miami; Art London; ArtExpo NY; LINEART Ghant; Art Düsseldorf; EUROPART Geneve; .... He has exhibitions in museums in Aveiro, Grão Vasco, Castelo Branco, Ciudad Real, Vila Real,... as well as in many art galleries and cultural centres. Comes from the collection of the municipality of The Hague, The Netherlands.
