Paul de LUSSANET (Laren, 1940)
Biography / Education
With grandparents who were artists, Paul de Lussanet grew up in a creative environment. He trained at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He also spent three years studying at the Schule des Sehens of well-known expressionist Oskar Kokoschka in Salzburg. After this, he lived in Paris for ten years, until returning permanently to Laren in 2000. In the summer months, he can often be found at Laren's Jagtlust, an artists' castle that during the 1950s and 1960s helped the Dutch avant-garde flourish through creative gatherings. De Lussanet is known for his depictions of the female nude, using colourful and dynamic compositions. In these, he creates merges between the fragile and the glamorous of women.
