Joran van Soest (1994) explores the human drive for connection and how we can nurture our relationships, regardless of distance. Joran: ''Our relationships, how we are to each other, are subject to our individual imagination. The further away someone or something is, the easier it is to hold on to a beautiful memory.'' Van Soest conveys this fragmentary feeling by using intense colours and pitch black in one work and other work consisting of a few light lines, making it look almost sketchy. Joran uses different media such as video, painting, photography, printing and drawing techniques to create installations and collages. His artworks are impressive and intense, inviting reflection on how we experience and can understand relationships with others. Joran van Soest graduated from the AKV St. Joost art academy in Den Bosch two years ago. He exhibited at Art Rotterdam 2022. And was featured in several museum exhibitions. Most recently at the NoordBrabants Museum and the Gorcums Museum. In 2023, he stayed at the EKWC in Oisterwijk. Comes from the collection of the municipality of The Hague, The Netherlands.
