Aleš Lamr 1943-2024

Aleš Lamr, born on June 12, 1943 in Olomouc, was an important Czech painter, graphic artist, author of wall paintings and ceramic reliefs, sculptor and ceramist.
He was born into a family of stove makers and potters in Litovla. His artistic talent was evident from a young age, also thanks to the environment of the family ceramic workshop. After graduating from the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts in Brno, he studied at the Secondary Art School in Ostrava. He then continued his studies at the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Brno, where he studied spatial design.
In his work, he is inspired by different styles and directions, from abstraction to figuration. His paintings are characterized by playful colors and dynamic compositions. A significant part of his work is also made up of sculptures and ceramic reliefs, which often decorate public spaces and buildings.
Lamr has won several awards for his work, including the Salvatore Dalí Award for Artistic Activity. His works are part of many private and public collections in the Czech Republic and abroad.
His work is considered unique and original and still has an influence on the Czech art scene.
He died on February 16, 2024 in Prague.
