Nout VISSER 1944) - 2018 Visser studied painting and drawing at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. He was mainly involved in commissioning monumental art and worked with the materials granite, steel, brick and trees. His free work consisted of drawing and painting. Together with Martin Sjardijn, he founded the 'Werkgroep Speelbouw' in 1973. Since 1974 he has been a tutor at the Free Academy in The Hague and from the 1990s onwards he has taught sculpture at the Koorenhuis art centre in The Hague. Central to his work was the interaction between environment and art; he found his inspiration in nature and culture. His work sometimes deals with the conflict between the two and sometimes with their merging. Visser has realised works of art in the public space of many cities in the Netherlands.
