Pierre-Yves Tremois , 1921 - 2020
Pierre-Yves Trémois, born in Paris in 1921, was admitted to the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in 1938. He then worked in the studio of Fernand Sabatté, a former pupil of Gustave Moreau. In 1943, he received the Grand Prix de Rome for painting. An avid lover of literature, he used the richness of his line to illustrate major artists' books, such as Ovid's The Art of Loving (1962). In 1961, he participated with Bernard Buffet, Dalí, Leonor Fini, Foujita, Mathieu and Zadkine in the illustration of The Apocalypse of Saint-Jean, a unique work designed and produced by Joseph Forêt. Pierre-Yves Trémois has a passion for engraving without neglecting other media. In 1976, for instance, he created a tapestry for Aubusson and a monumental sculpture
