Hans Veneman was a socially engaged artist. who wanted to address environmental issues and destruction through his art. He was educated at the A.K.I. in Enschede and manifested himself as a painter, sculptor and filmmaker. Veneman was a material artist and made installations and sculptures from demolition material, oil/sand paintings, wall objects and from 1980 also carried out painting performances. As a painter he worked expressionistically, sometimes realistically, with the landscha, man and animals as subjects.
