Hans Olde (1855-1917) was an impressionist German painter. Olde was in close contact with Alfred Lichtwark in Hamburg, but also with poets such as Klaus Groth and Detlev von Liliencron. He often stayed with his friends at Gut Seekamp. He was a member of the board of the Deutscher Künstlerbund and in 1911 was appointed director of the Königliche Kunstakademie Kassel, whose modernisation he ran until his death in 1917. Here he developed an impasto, almost expressionist style of painting reminiscent of Emil Nolde. - Original print from the magazine PAN (the most important organ of Art Nouveau in Germany), published from 1895 to 1900 in an edition of 1200 to 1600 copies.
