De Schepselen

Mohamed Quraish, born in Baghdad in 1965, is an Iraqi-born visual artist recognized for his work as a painter, sculptor, and graphic artist. He pursued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad, earning a BA in Painting in 1994. Due to political turmoil, he left Iraq the same year and has since settled and worked in the Netherlands, particularly in Amersfoort. Quraish's artistic vision is deeply influenced by ancient myths and storytelling traditions, which he reimagines through a contemporary, abstract approach. His works have been showcased in various galleries and museums, including the Hindiyeh Museum, and have appeared in numerous auctions, reflecting his strong presence in the art market. Known for his experimental and meticulous techniques, Quraish uses a wide range of materials, such as metal, paper, glue, oil, acrylic paint, and even corrosion. His process includes carving, scratching, etching, and layering, resulting in pieces that are not only visually striking but also rich in texture and depth.
