Vredegoor, Hans

Hans Vredegoor (Deventer, 1953) Vredegoor studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Arnhem until 1977. He prefers to undertake wanderings in his inner world of experience. His paintings originate from a stain that he gradually allows to flow into an abstract theme in which he allows light and dark effects to radiate via undulating movements and organic forms into something recognisable. His paintings are a pleasant discovery for those who seek a certain poetry of chance and a light transparency in his painting. These graphic, pliable and refined subjects also appear in his sculptures. The same technical mastery appears in this three-dimensional work. The treatment of tender colours with pastels and inks, alternating with collage elements in his paintings, is replaced in his sculptures by an interplay of different materials, which he ingeniously combines. Round sensual forms and soft curves soften the abstraction. His work seems to reflect the essence of man and nature sensitively and gracefully.
